Job Description

Summary The Manager has overall responsibility to achieve department performance that supports short and long term company objectives.  This is accomplished by activities including but not limited to planning, goal setting, staff development, problem solving, and maintaining open and effective communication with employees at various levels.   Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership and direction to entire department
  • Oversees and is responsible for the department’s long-term projects, future equipment implications, meeting department budgets, G&Os, manpower needs, training and resources
  • Will investigate, propose, design and implement new technologies to meet customer requirements  
  • Manage facility projects from beginning to end including utilities planning, forecasting and management for entire facility
  • Oversee all plant offices and equipment layouts/installations working with other engineering groups as needed
  • Plans/coordinates for new processes/products 
  • Responsible for the development of department and fixed asset budgets
  • Recognize departmental trends and problems providing direction and resources as required
  • Coordinates activities to develop and implement safety improvement activities
  • Demonstrates ability to lead multiple kaizen activities
  • Maintain plant facilities drawings and manage ISO 14001 for department in addition to supporting facilities needs at other DENSO plants
  • Supervise, coordinate and evaluate the work of department and cross-functional teams by coaching, counseling, conducting performance appraisals, empowering and involving group members, and resolving conflicts that may occur within or between teams
  • Prioritizes, schedules, and monitors staff workload and provides resources to meet department G&Os
  • Responsible for staff development opportunities
  • Conducts performance reviews to determine subordinates’ strengths and weaknesses and recommends development opportunities accordingly
  • Works with support departments to identify/correct problems
  • Negotiates with outside departments to support departmental projects, key problems, and improvement activities
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned (includes all non-essential or non-major activities)   While performing the duties of this job you may be asked to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift or carry component parts weighing up to 35 pounds, lift parts in excess of 35 pounds with a lift assist, use hands to handle or feel parts, reach with hand and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear, use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, work on the production floor as needed, frequent phone use and keyboarding.

Job Requirements

Minimum Level of Education and Training Required

ü  Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field 

ü  7 – 10 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

ü  One year CAD and facility layout experience

ü  Other combinations of education and experience equal to minimum requirements may be considered
