Manager, Sales – European Sales


General Summary:


Manages the operational and personnel activities of the assigned area. Adheres to the management principles as defined by the DIAM Operating System (DOS). Collaborates with internal and external customers, affiliates and suppliers in resolving problems/issues arising from daily operations. Manages and leads subordinates by developing performance expectations, assessing individual training needs and planning for goal attainment. Recommends personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, and ensures training of staff and completes performance evaluations. Collaborates with senior management to develop goals, objectives and measures for area. Communicates and implements change management initiatives. Assists in the development and monitoring of budget for area.

Essential Responsibilities:


• Lead and direct sales team to capture and maintain business.
• Lead, develop and execute business expansion, customer strategies in collaboration with global members.
• Key point of management contact between customer Engineering & Purchasing.
• Responsibility for all aspects of Sales activity including:
1. Strengthening of relationships with customers and internally with DENSO global team members.
2. Profit improvement / APR mitigation strategies / AR resolutions
3. Business forecast Sales Planning strategies to achieve annual targets
4. Management of sales team / training plans / career development

• Manages the operational and personnel activities of the assigned area. Oversees and is accountable for managing targeted annual sales and for sales growth and expansion activities. Analyzes workflow and provides input for process changes.

• Maintains relationships and directly interacts with internal and external customers, and/or suppliers and affiliates as needed to address and resolve issues arising from daily operations.

• Adheres to management principles as defined by the DIAM Operating System (DOS). Provides coaching to staff level Associates in the DOS process and helps them to overcome both internal and external barriers to the process.

• As requested, acts as a program team member and follows DOS with respect to managing individual programs. Informs Program Leader and functional management of the progress being made toward each milestone within the program. May be required to act in the Program Leader role and perform all related activities, as defined.

• May act as the Program Sponsor and perform all related activities, as defined, for a specific program. Informs management of the progress being made within each program as well as overall conformance to DOS.

• Mentors, coaches and leads subordinates by developing performance expectations, assessing individual training needs and planning for goal attainment. Reviews work of subordinates for accuracy. Recommends personnel actions such as hiring, firing and disciplines, and completes performance evaluations.

Job Requirements

Minimum Level of Education and Training Required:


• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 5-7 years of sales experience, including demonstrated leadership ability.

Preferred Skills:

  • Fluent in German
  • Previous German OEM experience
